A Collings OM42 owned by one of their prominent artist had the neck shattered during Airline travel.

The peghead was nearly detached, just the Rosewood headplate kept it intact.

The bottom of the neck wasn't spared from the damage. There were cracks in the heel and the fingerboard extension was completely loose.

It got even uglier with the neck off.

It's a humble clamping technique but it works just fine. I've taped off all but the crack to lessen the cleanup of glue squeeze out.
